Summary:

This story was happened in a university which is Carmen studying. Carmen is in Year 9 and she like singing. She is very fat, she likes eating very much. She wanted to be a pop star-actually a rock star and her grandma used to say, “That girl is star crazy!” Her mother is a very good singer and she taught Carmen how to sing beautifully. Her father is a dietician and he wants his daughter to eat healthy in her daily life. She was so excited when she heard about the school talent contest. She even wrote a special song with her friend, Josh. But then a few girls in the university talked about her weight so she stormed out of school and she doesn’t want to go back……

After she stormed out of school, she thought carefully and found that she could not give up because she still has some good friends to accompany with her. They are Josh, Indy and Mrs. P. She tries to break through obstruction. She also practices her guitar and her special song. When she came back to school to join the talent contest, everyone with quite different eyes to look at her, even those girl who laugh at her. Why? Because she done an excellent performance! Everyone in the scene was deeply touched by her singing. After her excellent performance, all the judges stood up and said “bravo”. The other people clapped their hands. All the teachers thought that she would be a good singer in the future.

Commentary:

First, when I saw this book, I thought that it would be a funny, funky, feisty and fantastic story. Why I said that? Because of the topic “Star Crazy Me” I thought that it would be an interesting story about a person that really wants to be pop star, almost in a crazy state! Once before, I had a same dream with her but I gave up since some my friends said that it is a silly thought.
