When I was in Secondary Two, I had experienced something new when overcoming a new challenge. Metro Radio and my Secondary School had cooperated to hold a talent competition which was called “Karaobabe”. Every classes had to send at least one representative to join the competition. After the voting in our class, I have been selected to participate in this competition on behalf of my class, 3E, as I have experienced in participating in singing contest in the past

Although this was a challenge required creativity that I had never faced before, I felt excited as this was an opportunity for me to estimate how creative I could be and a chance to break myself. During the period of thinking about the theme and the content of the performance, I put effort in trying to be creative. As I wanted to distinguish from the other competitors, I had tried hard to think about something the other seldom did. Coincidentally, my friends in other classes told me the theme that their classes were going to choose when we were discussing about the talent competition.

After generating some information, I realized that most of the classes had chosen singing or dancing as their theme. At that time, I recognized that it seemed none of them had attempted to choose the theme with the combination of music, drama and dance. As a result, I had decided musical as the theme in order to prevent the threat of overlapping.

To carry out the musical, I had invited some of my classmates who were interested in this competition. The content of the musical was based on the love song that I had chosen to sing in the musical. This was the first time I acted as a leader to lead a group of members and took the responsibility of script writing, preparing for the stage direction to indicate the movements of performer and designing the dancing steps.

Everything progressed smoothly and I had strong confidence that our class could win the competition. However, I had failed to predict for the accident occurred during the competition. This caused the most serious failure in our performance. Because of the technical problem, the microphone allocated to me was no sound and I had to shout out loudly when saying the dialogue and singing. Moreover, because of the communication problem of the teacher in charge, the teacher had deleted our instrumental music and wrongly played the song with the voice of the original singer. Although we gave some signal to the teachers, the teacher did not realize that the things were not progressing in the right way. Although we continued the performance and acted as if there were no problem occurred, I finally lost my control because of being misunderstood by the students sitting under the stage. They thought I was lip-synching, while I was actually singing. Even though the performance had not finished, I ran back to the backstage as I thought I had fail and I could not suffer from the shock causing by the accident. Also, I refused to participate in competition held in the school anymore.
