In history World War I made a huge impact on the world and there was a nation that was to blame for the start of it and that is Germany. Before the war came about there was already some tension between some of the countries. Otto van Bismarck knew that the French did not want Germany on their borders because they took territory from them during the previous wars. Bismarck knew that eventually they were going to try to get revenge so they needed allies in case there was a war to break out leaving Germany to either ally with Austria or Russia. Bismarck approached both Austria and Russia leading to the signing of a treaty in Germany known as the three emperor’s league. What Bismarck did under the three emperors’ league was that he kept good relationships with the other emperor’s. he was very careful that Germany didn’t make Russia and Austria mad as well as making it to where both the countries did not have to be friends because as long as both Austria, Russia, and Germany can hold together France couldn’t do anything. But of course every good thing has its downfall because in 1890 a new Kaiser named Kaiser Wilhelm II came into power and everything Bismarck did to keep peace was screwed up by him. What Kaiser Wilhelm did was idiotic on his part because once he came into power he fired the once person, Bismarck, which helped keep France from attacking Germany and also take foreign policy thinking he can handle it all by himself. Because he didn’t really care too much about the three emperor’s treaty he didn’t renew it when he was supposed to so from then on everything went downhill. Once it elapses Germany is no longer in a position to protect itself and then Germany signed an alliance with Italy but in reality they gave up a strong ally in Russia and gained a weak one in Italy.
