Foucault(1980) argued that the mechanics of powers do not work to possess it and power only exists in action.

For this assignment we are required to research appropriate literature and refer to experiences required for our development of an ongoing critical learning portfolio. The E-portfolio will be developed using the programme Mahara (through Moodle) this will consist of approximately 3,000 words of critical commentary. My two main focuses will be Emotions in the workplace linking in with power in the workplace, I will be discussing how managers and leaders have an impact on our emotions, and the different ways we behave when someone with power influences our feelings. To help me with my research and critical commentary I have gathered information and appropriate evidence such as media files, web links, video clips etc, to support my analysis and evaluation of concepts and their application to the Real world of management and organisations. Also I have based my research on power and emotions on my workplace which is a Care home "Highbury Nursing Home." I have undertaken research such as questionnaires, and actively engaging in interviews, whereby I have recorded the results using diagrams.
