Preliminary Design Model:

Design Trade-off Approach:

The most important result of any design is superior performance, but with the trade off approach some parts of the design process may need to be sacrificed to keep the cost down or to ensure the project stays on schedule. There is a delicate balance as having too much or too little in any section of the design could drown the entire project. For instance, If not enough is spent on the design and you have very poor performance the system will not have much use, or will not be effective. If the design cost is slightly over budget, but the system is on time and if it has exceptional performance, you may see an increase in cost efficiency and subsequently would make up for the losses of the extra cost.

Ultimately it is the performance that matters most since it must meet end user satisfaction or the cost and schedule will not matter at all. When designing a new system there needs to be optional requirements that can be cut or left out of the design to ensure the project is under budget and on schedule, and some things can be developed and implemented at a later date. On top of performance, security is another area of the design that cannot be overlooked, and even if it costs more security for data management.

This system needs to have a high level of performance while staying under budget, and on time and this can be accomplished by cutting out superfluous and unnecessary features, processes, and unneeded aspects of the design in general. That does not mean that it has to be an archaic system, with little thought or innovation, but it is more important that the system functions and does what it was created to do over anything else. Regardless of how cheap and quickly the system was developed, all those resources are a waste if it does not meet user needs.

Detailed Design Process and Design Specifications:

The software design will be a Citrix based program, this program base has been around for many years and has been proven time and again to be a solid program. It will include the creation of a user account for each individual customer and provide access to each user account created. The Citrix program will store and maintain all user login and passwords as well as security questions and answers submitted by the customer, while submitting a copy of these to the IT department
