While heating two different samples of water at sea level, one boils at 102*C and one boils at 99.2*C. Calculate the percent error for each sample from the theoretical 100.0*C

100*C-99.2*C .8

-------------- x 100% = ------ x 100% = -. 8 % error

99.2*C 99.2*C

100*C-102*C 2*C

----------------- x 100% = -------- x 100% = 2% error

102*C 102*C

So here we see that there is a .8 error in the first temperature and a 2 % error in the second temperature. A good percentage error is +/- 5% so both of these values are well within range. We can also figure out that the maximum temperature water boils at is anywhere between 100*C and its critical level of 374*C.

I just want to get access to other free papers but I really hope this paper can at least help someone out there. I am doing a completely online Chemistry 1405 class with lab done at home. It's very different than in person. :)
