Write down everything you know about how muscles work?

The nervous system signals the muscles to contract groups of muscles work together to move the skeleton. There are three types of muscle: skeletal muscle tissue, smooth muscle (found in the digestive system) and cardiac muscle (found only in your heart). The skeletal muscles create movement in the body. There are more than 600 skeletal muscles in a human body.

What do you think is the function of a skeleton?

The skeleton has 6 major functions: support, movement, protection, production of blood cells, storage of minerals and endocrine regulation.

Explain how muscles and bones work together to make movement:

Movement is made possible because of the way that bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments work together. The skeletal muscles work with your bones, which gives your body power and strength. Tendons are cords made of tough tissue, and they work as connector pieces between bone and muscle. Tendons are attached so well that when you contract one of your muscles, the tendon and bone move along with it, which results in movement.

Why is it important for an athlete or coach to understand how muscles and bones work?

it is important for an athlete and coach because they need to learn to coordinate all muscles for skills and also develop sport fitness that prepares the body to perform at its best.

When endurance is built during sport, the muscles use oxygen more efficiently and the blood supply improves. The muscular system makes all the right adjustments to help the athlete or coach improve sport performance.

To prevent the athlete getting injuries during sport activities.
