Global Warming: Fact or Fiction

What is global warming? Global warming has been believed to be a continuous argument for decades now. Scientists have many beliefs as to why global warming has occurred. However, there are also some that believe it to be false. Regardless of the matter, scientists cannot prove that global warming does in fact exist. There are some icons that link to this but there is no consensus of such.

Global warming is when the climate levels have risen beyond normality. All glaciers and snow rapidly melt. This can cause a problem in places such as Alaska and Canada. The beginning of global warming was discovered by two scientists named Svante Arrhenius and Thomas Chamberlin (Enzler, n. d.). This discovery began in the early 1950s. According to Enzler, “In the late 1980's the curve began to increase so steeply that the global warming theory began to win terrain fast.” Also in a debate about global warming, Asman (2010) states, “global temperature and sea levels have been rising since the end of the last Ice Age.” This makes one question whether global warming is fact or fiction. Researchers have tried to prove this theory correct while there are still some facts that can make it seem like it’s a hoax.

There are many things that make the global warming seem like its fiction. In an article by Asman (2010) he states that, “Today, almost all scientists agree that there is global warming, but there is no scientific consensus about what causes global warming or how it will affect our lives.” This comment alone leads people to believe that global warming may not be necessarily true. The word consensus seems to outstand from the entire statement made. What is consensus? According to Merriam Webster (n. d.) consensus is best defined as “a general agreement.” For some reason, this doesn’t seem to have anything to do with science. Most Americans needs proof of something in order to believe what is being said. For example, when going to purchase any type of makeup, most females tend to read the reviews on people who have tested the product and can vouch for it being 100% accurate. The same goes with men when they are going to shop for a car, the reviews are first read to make sure it entails everything that is needed and wanted. This can also apply to the global warming. In order for Americans to believe it exists, they need to make sure that Scientists have proven this theory to be true. According to Mandia (n. d.), “There is no evidence that that variations in the strength of the sun are the cause of the modern day climate change.” Scientists seem to be trying to prove that the rays have something to do with global warming but they have nothing
