My notes this week will be based off a blog on a "slavery mentality" this blog (sent in a email) will provide an overall example of people with a slavery mindset.  When I mention people that carry a "slavery mentality" I am referring to the individuals that stuck in a slavery attitude or outlook on life. People who believe that because their ancestors once experienced this condition of being enslaved, they too are obligated to react out of the hurt in and confusion of the slavery state. These people believe that they do are not eligible to live the life of especially "a white" or they believe that they are not equal to “white “individuals. This affliction has been passed down from generation to generation.

Although these "blacks” are clearly free, mentally they are not, this issue has caused many "blacks" make excuses for why they are not able to reach their highest potential. This issue of thinking as caused many "blacks" to feel "less than" other individuals. I believe that this issue has caused many "blacks" to become reluctant or fearful to receive help / support from many cultures. I think that is mentality as also caused many “blacks” to develop the same issue amongst one another. These people have become resentful of their original identity (as slaves), but instead of changing their identity positivity, they have chosen to dwell on the negative identity (as a past slave) and formed "their culture". This culture was created out of hurt and confusion and has led to many years of pain and confusion. I believe that many "blacks" spend most of their time trying to prove themselves (better) to the world; this act of proving can be found in the church, communities, relationships, and many black owned businesses.

Imagine living in a world feeling like the entire world against you, in addition, to the issue / struggles that life brings. Many "blacks" do not have an identity (successful or unsuccessful blacks). This culture has adapted to trying to PROVE them. The "big hair", "interesting styles", "slang" (vocabulary). Many blacks are just trying to survive in a world that they feel inadequate to.
