Criminology in the Future

No one knows why one commits a criminal act. There are many scientist and doctors that try to predict the reasons one would be violent to another person. Violence is vastly over predicted, regardless of who is doing the predicting or how the predictions are made. No one can predict what one individual may do to another. The criminal justice system has developed many ways to help solve crimes. There are many studies done through the study of biometrics and DNA. There are cases that are investigated using biometrics, DNA, cybercrime spyware, and surveillance cameras. The technology is growing to assist psychologist, psychiatrist, and criminal justice professionals on finding the truth about criminals and why one commits a crime. A major crime committed is terrorist attacks. The U.S Patriot Act, The Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003, and The Homeland Security Act of 2002 prepare criminal justice professionals to know how to control a terrorist attack.

The Patriot Act is used to deter and punish terrorist acts in the United States and around the world, to enhance law enforcement investigatory tools. The use of this act is used now and will be used in the future to help assist criminal justice professional in controlling a terrorist attack situations. It also is used to strengthen U.S measures to prevent, detect and prosecute international money laundering and financing of terrorism. The Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003 also was created to assist criminal justice professional to help control terrorist acts. In section 301 and 306 (Terrorist Identification Database) a national database of “suspected terrorist” is set up and the database is expanded to include anyone associated with suspected terrorist groups and anyone involved in crimes or having supported any group designated as “terrorist.” This way the law can keep an eye on the potential treats of a terrorist attack. These sections also set up a national DNA database for anyone on probation or have been on probation for any crime, and orders State government to collect the DNA for the federal government. There are many sections listed in this act that prepare the law for dealing with terrorist. In section 101 will designate individual terrorist as foreign powers and again strip them of all rights under the “enemy combatant” designation. Terrorist attacks are not taken lightly and will continue to be controlled with the use of the Domestic Security Enhancement Act of 2003. Another important section is section 303 it sets up national DNA database of suspected terrorist. It will share the information with state, local, and foreign agencies for the same purposes.

The Homeland Security Act of 2002 establishes in DHS an Office for Domestic Preparedness to prepare the United States for acts of terrorism. This allows the government to be better prepared for bombing attacks were teams are developed
