A) -February 28th 1933 decree for the Protection of People and the State gave emergency powers to have anyone suspected of plotting against the government arrested and imprisoned without trial.

-March 24th 1933 Enabling Act allowed Hitler to pass laws without consulting the Reichstag or President Hindenburg for 4 years.

B) - Nazi policies promoted the concept of the “volkgemeinschaft” (people’s community) where citizens would put their loyalty to the state and the Fuhrer ahead of their individual beliefs or interests.

-The Nazis believed that the place for women could be summed up by the 3 Ks (Kinder, Kirche, and Kuche, which meant Children, Church and Cooking.)

- Young women were encouraged to get married and have large families of racially pure children (Aryans.)

- The Law for the Encouragement of Marriage was passed in June 1933. It gave all newly married couples a loam of 1000 marks. For every child born, the family could keep 25% of the loan.

- Many women were encouraged to give up their jobs and stay at home- especially if they were married or in professional and government jobs.
