Being in Charge of Hungary

This past week there has been a lot of activity on the Eastern front concerning Hungary at the Soviets. It has been a hectic week that has contained many twist and turns to where we stand today with beloved Nagy in charge of Hungary with many people risking their lives along the way.

On the 23rd October 1956 students gathered to take part in a peaceful protest against their beloved leader Imre Nagy not being elected as leader of their government. They had no malicious intent but the police who were keeping the students under control started to lose their patience and started to arrest several of the protesters. The students saw their fellow protesters being wrongly treated and started to attempt an effort to release those that had been captured. It was at that point where the police lost it and opened fire on the people.

The day after, the soldiers joined in on the protest and stood at the side of the students on the streets of Budapest. They joined together to get rid of the Stalin statue in Budapest are started shouting chants such as “Russians go away” and “Long Live Nagy” Soviet tanks were called in to recreate order amongst the people of Hungary and opened fire on the protesters. It is estimated that the vicious soviets have wounded 170 innocent citizens and cold-heartedly murdered 12 young Hungarians.

These protesters risked their lives on several occasions but those 12 had not sacrificed themselves in vain. Only four days later Nagy was appointed leader of the Hungarian government and he was able to seize control of his country. Nagy made several promises that helped the people and made him even popular with the Hungarian s gaining better living conditions and the democratisation of Hungarian life. Nagy has single-handedly saved an entire country from the vile grasp of communist control.
