Life is full of threats and danger that can occur at any time. The news constantly mentions war, crime, and hate. Today's society has become a dark and scary place to live in. Everyone is so cautious and paranoid of external forces that they forget that they can be one of the biggest threats to themselves. Obesity is one of the biggest growing problems in America. It is a source for some of the US's leading causes of death. Obesity can be solved in many ways but it does not have to be exercise more and eat less. Weight can be loss be achieved by adding proper nutrition to . Many people are overweight because they forget to add proper nutrition to their meals. Proper food choices can be added to any diet and benefit others not only in with weight but even heart rate and digestive systems. Smart and healthy eating is a key to win the battle against obesity but it cannot be done without initiative.

Obesity has swept the nation and affects almost every citizen around us. Being affected by obesity is not limited to being obese yourself; it can also mean that people have friends or family members who are obese. According to studies by the Center of Disease Control, more than 50% of adults in the US are overweight. A quarter of the children from ages 2-5 years old also suffer from being overweight. The age group with the highest percentage of obesity is before complete adulthood which are citizens from ages 12-19 years old. Affecting this specific time in someone's life can be detrimental to their self-esteem and direction in life. One of the most noted events of obesity in this age group was when 12 year old, Brooke Bates, set the record for being the youngest person to undergo liposuction. The CDC predicted that obesity will rise by over 40% by 2030. The end result will be over 90% of Americans will be obese.
