Reflection Paper

Food is the essentials to people. As the saying goes to “People are iron and food is steel”, and I believe all of people do care about a food-safety problem. Since I only ate vegetable and a little pork before I came to America, so I had never worried about the safety of food. Moreover, I believe the Unite States is a country which the most developed and the most democratic is in the world. That is why I think America also is having the most stringent food control agencies. Maybe I am wrong, because “The world is much the same everywhere”, governments always get improper gain or advantage from food, which the most fundamental thing about the survival of mankind, whatever in China or America. The first time, I just cared the taste of food; I even did not think about the food is clean or not, not to mention I thought just fast food was bad for our health, other foods only come from farms and I believed government still is helping us. Therefore, according to the few days’ study, I got a lot of information of food I have never heard, so I should know what I eat. I think if all of people have chances to understand what I watched, that will be helping us protect our health and lives. However, until now, I have to think food is very dangerous, I even have no choses for find a safety way to protect myself.

I already knew the fast food is bad for people’s health, but I still eat them, because I have no choice. At the first time, I think if I just occasionally eat fast food that would be okay. However, in movie “Food Inc.” has a baby boy, who died for eating hamburgers. Only three hamburgers, but it still deprives him of life. I remember the story shocked all of my classmates, I even decided that I will never touch any fast food again, because I do not want to be killed by a hamburger. However, I said I have no choice to change anything; I bought a piece of pizza at the mess hall after two days and I did not think it was not right until my friend laugh to me and remind me what I said before. Even though I got it but I also ate the pizza, because I have another credit course after 30 minutes, and I have three times like that every week. I have more important work have to do, and having a meal only for satisfying with full. I want to change, but I do not know anything else can be eaten on such a short time at school. I believe that is why fast food is developing so quickly, and government would like to see it because the revenue will be growth.

Government would like fast food can help making more and more revenue, and forget to care their citizens health. According to “What We Eat”, the author used some data to tell us the fact, “In 1970, Americans spent about $6 billion
