1'Explain the main ideas in the text.

In this passage, it examines the nature of love in the context of changing of social structures and gender stereotype. It argues the structures of industrial society is breaking down the alongside the increasingly competitive market and rising mundane society, traditional social value are disappearing and the individualization is growing fast. In the first place, with the development of economy and society, people have more choice than before. However, the oversupplied of options overlap the individual and attribute to the quarrels. In the second place, the competition between the feminism conscience and stereotype has been the inevitable problem since the industrial society. On the one hand, the feminism of stereotype put the women in the role of relying on the men and impossible to make living independently. Due to this, the sex discrimination has been the dilemma in searching the acceptable jobs for women. On the other hand, the feminism stereotype has existed in the minds of women for hundreds years which prevent the women has the self-confident to make living by themselves. The movement of women has turned to the new theme, the difficult in balancing out being liberated and being committed by patriarchal society. In the third place, the interim stage of gender role transformation the quarrel and misery between the husband and wife hidden in the marriage. The enlightenment of love is brought with pains which could not apply when without destroying love. To be precisely, the space between intimacy and individualization attribute to the mid-life crisis, the basic dilemma is based on the contradictory individualized society, the self versus the intimacy relationship. The space in the relationship becomes narrow, and the intimacy changed to the boring.

As Fallaci said :"love snatches away one's autonomy, the identity of self. It would be disastrous to accept the love , and love the object.

2. To what extent are the ideas discussed in the text applicable to China?

On the one hand, as the traditional Chinese social value, male is the head of the family, female is the accessory of male. It is commonly believed that the family reflects the individuals, but only the man could be the head or the representation of family. On the other hand, Chinese women go out home to work outside ,women focus on more personality than family in stage of gender liberated and committed.
