What makes a great team is a manager who has the ability to manage and lead its team towards the organizations vision and objectives. “Leadership is defined as the process of influencing others to understand and agree about what needs to be done and how to do it, and the process of facilitating individual and collective efforts to accomplish shared objectives” (Gary Yukl, 2013, pg. 25). To develop a professional development plan one must assess the teams personality characteristics and see how those characteristics can fit into a team.Every person doesn’t have the same skill set but you build a team on each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Characteristics of Learning Team Manager

“Regardless how a man leads, he should at least be cognizant of his style. Knowing your style is the first step toward intelligent professional managerial adaptation” (Daryl Mitton, 1986, pg. 9).My leadership style has a concern for people with a higher regards to completing a task.Personality traits also play a role into developing a team of potential great leaders, ENTJ (Extroverted, Intuitive, Thinking, Judging) is describes as a rationalist, outgoing, a visionary, argumentative, have low tolerance for incompetence and often seen as a natural born leader. Although I have a low tolerance for incompetency, I still want to build a person’s career and find out what they want and search on how they want to get there.
