Executive Summary

Railroad Police Departments are tasked with the protection and security of the customers’ lading. To minimize the amount of losses customers are experiencing, improvements to the policing and security processes have to be made in order to meet the expectations of the customer regarding the safety and security of their merchandise while in our care. Improving these processes will ensure the customers’ merchandise will be delivered to its destination on time and intact.

To improve the policing and security processes of Railroad Police Departments, an analysis of the current policing methods must take place. Additionally, the problem areas, vulnerabilities, and the resources currently available to the agents must be identified to determine what additional security measures have to be implemented and how to utilize police resources more efficiently and effectively.
