Are Southwest Airlines Inc. leadership and policies fulfilling Maslow’s needs ‘ theory stages?

Yes. Southwest Airlines Inc has set a whole new standard in the needs theory. In today’s ever changing economy, profits dropping. Southwest Airlines Inc has Gary Kelly chief executive at Southwest Airlines Inc. Gary has remained steadfast to maintain the distinct corporate culture. Southwest Airlines Inc feels that if your people come first, and if you treat them right, they'll treat the customer’s right, and the customers will come back, and that'll make the shareholders happy.

Some of the ways that Southwest Airlines Inc is meeting the needs to work motivation, starts with the little things like being recognized from the head office when there is a new baby in your family, a death in your family, when you’re out of work with a serious illness Southwest Airlines is there to see to see how you’re doing Southwest Airlines is even there for their retired employees. The biggest things I see is that Southwest Airlines makes it known to all of it people are individuals, and not just workers. Southwest Airline Employees are willing to be paid less just because they just want to enjoy what they are doing. There are no handshakes at Southwest Airlines it’s a hugs and kisses kind of place. As for Southwest Airlines firing anyone I only found one article where they fired 3 employees in 2008 for safety negligence.

There is no doubt that Southwest Airlines leadership and HR department are applying the Reinforcement theory to motivate their employees. Southwest is a sell itself with facts like being #1 in total job security, 38 straight
