The news has reported that the educators are of the view that young children need not be deprived of technology and the use of technology in the form of mobile learning, digital video and internet-based learning is now more of a piece of equipment in the pre-school.

The educators support the idea of implementation of mobile and information technology in the pre-school since they believe that today’s children are already born into the digital age, therefore a positive disposition is needed. And accordingly, the teachers are also required to be digitally literate and technologically updated along with adequate knowledge, skills and experience to help the children learn in the digital age.

Although the long-term impact of the touch-screen and mobile technology in classroom learning is not known yet[c].

Some educators have argued against the use of mobile technology and touch-screen technology in the pre-school on account of providing more real-world experience and not via screens.

  • The ability to perceive and differentiate

  • Classify the objects
  • Identify patterns and relationships
  • Develop the concept of space, size, and shape.
  • Use creative imagination.

The study further highlighted the use of media experience in the curriculum in the child care centres, preschools and primary schools.
