Decisions in Paradise Part 1

Kava is a place known for great exportations such as coffee, cocoa, petroleum and several others. The Island is enriched with several cultures that have made it a designated hot spot for tourists. Found At Sea is a well-known fishing company that caters to tourists along the coast of Florida. They are now looking to expand their company at the island of Kava, but have come across some difficulties establishing the new site. By applying some critical-thinking and teamwork, Alex, the manager at the Kava location, and I will devise a solid process to launch a successful tourist attraction that resembles the effectiveness and efficiency as Found At Sea in the United States.

Defining the Problems

There are several problems that need addressed in order to make Found At Sea in Kava a success. When I first arrived at the island it was apparent that the location was isolated and was devastated with trash and debris that was caused by a recent typhoon. The mess did not stop once inside. The small trailer was cluttered and unorganized. Alex, the manager was also playing the role of the receptionist in the office, allowing me to judge that we are understaffed at the office. Although the equipment seemed in good shape and met all of the required safety regulations, there was not enough to conduct an expedition for more than 10 people. The other problem that needs attention is the lack of advertisement for the company both outdoors and inside the office. All of these factors will make it unnoticeable and unappealing to tourists seeking a fishing adventure.

Formulating the Problems

Kava is well-known for its disastrous weather and the several different cultures mingling together. This has created problems such as disaster clean-up and arguments within the government and its people. These forces are external factors that have made it difficult for the company to take direction. Along with these external factors, the larger problems lie internally.
