1.0 Introduction to Continuous Improvement

Continuous improvement is an ongoing effort to improve. In the past, programs, processes, procedures and ultimately plant reliability have typically been driven by a reactive work culture in the fossil energy industry which worked quite well when utilities were regulated (Austin Paiz, 2017). However, in the very competitive unregulated market that many companies are faced with today, continuous improvement becomes an essential business strategy to improvise their product, culture or even the business strategy to grow in the field and be marketable (Mellisa Chong, 2017).

2.0 Types of Continuous Improvement Methodologies

Kaizen

Kaizen is a rationale and practice that sees change in productivity as a moderate and ponder process. Kaizen is a Japanese articulation implying "make strides." The possibility of kaizen conceals a broad assortment of considerations (Asuedu, 2017). It incorporates making the work environment more beneficial and convincing by making a gathering air, improving customary systems, ensuring agent satisfaction, and making a job all the all the more fulfilling, not so much tiring but rather more secure.

Lean Manufacturing
