In both business culture of Thailand and Myanmar, showing respect is the major character and the important first step in creating profitable business relationship.English is commonly spoken in business firm in both country. Both Thais and Burmese are patient people.Mostly first business meeting is for getting know each other more.The business decisions are slow and more serious or in-depth matters are being discussed in coming meetingAlso,they are typically not point out the other’s error in public and difficult to say “ NO” to othersIn both business sectors of Thailand and Myanmar, most businesses are dominated by men. However, many sex-barriers are disappearing.There are more and more women are holding executive positions in the workforce.In Thai business sector, the Wai is the common character of greeting as well as showing the respect.The juniors in age who offer the Wai and the senior person returns the Wai.When introduce themselves, Thais generally use their first surnames with the proper titles “ Khun” which is suitable for both male and female. For Businessmen, wearing Pants and shirts (white or colored) with or without a tie,a light suit or jacket adds status are common dress in company. For Businesswomen,conservative dresses or skirts and blouses (not sleeveless),simple blouses and calf-length loose pants and long wrap-around or tube skirts are common.

In Myanmar, share a handshake in greeting is proper for businessmen. But with businesswomen if they offer her hand, a quick handshake is acceptable. However, the preferred greeting is a small bow.When introduced,Burmese use their full names with the correct title of male is "U" which means “Mr.”and for a female is “Daw.” For dress, Men and women may also wear the “longyi. Men wear western style. Women must also follow certain rules such as avoid wearing clothing that shows their shoulders or legs.Shoes are always removed before entering a business
