Amanda Smith,

Accounting and Tax Service

 Dear Amanda,

I am writing you this letter, in response to our earlier conversation of me acting as a managing consultant for you. After going through your company’s documents and information, I came up with a few recommendations in relation to management practices in this letter. The following are some of the recommendations that I would like to suggest to you. The first being, she had no clear, written or visible mission or vision statement that explains what the company is and where she wants the company to be in a few years’ time. Almost all top businesses in the world have a clearly stated mission and vision statement because it is like the DNA or backbone of the company.  Secondly, I noticed that there is no effective or strong leadership and control on the part of Amanda in her business. Such as she fails to determine the best way to organize resources, including personal and work related, underestimates the importance of the recruitment process which involves: training, motivation, and job descriptions.  I am going to start with the mission and vision statement first, because it is a huge issue and is highly significant for any small business company or organization.

Mission and Vision statement is one of the most important aspects in the planning in a business management process. A mission and vison statement, defines who the company are or in this case Amanda’s company, where are we going, and how do we get to our aim or objective of being the best company in the whole East Coast region. A mission statement creates and reinforces the company’s brand, image, employees and all operations into one enormous unit.  A well-defined mission statement allows making appropriate choices for investment purposes, unique directions and the development of the organization to hire the right people to work. However, if a mission statement is not developed, or shared with its employees, it creates vagueness in the minds of the employees and also in the minds of management in the organization. Therefore, it can be said that a company without a mission statement makes its’ workforce questions management about the company achieving its goals and objectives. So for Amanda’s organization to achieve its goals and be successful in achieving them, it is important for her to develop her company’s own mission and vision statement and also communicate it with her employees. It can be said that planning is the most essential part of the business management process, and, if the mission and vision statements of the organization have not been developed, it then sets the business up for failure.
