Business ethics is a form of applied ethics that scrutinizes ethical principles and moral or ethical problems that arise in a business environment. It relates to all traits of business conduct and is pertinent to the conduct of individuals and their entire organizations. Not everyone feels as if though they are obligated to do the right thing and lead by example. Instead, they disregard all the principles and values associated with business ethics.

My company continues to offer potentially defective products to customers and this is in violation of business ethics. Often times, managers and business owners are aware of the situation but continue to do what is wrong because customers continue to make purchases without knowing the status of the item they are buying. In this case, that is unethical; especially if the business is aware of what they are doing wrong.

The most suitable approach to the situation is to call a board meeting with The Chief Executive Officer, Managers, and Directors. A meeting is needed to put out information all at once and provides an opportunity for members to ask questions, voice their opinions, make suggestions and offer clarification. Moreover, the meeting will allow me to review their current business and consumer policies, and their organizational ethical guidelines for any errors or conflicting information.

Consumers are entitled to know the specifics of the item or items they purchase. According to the AIU online course material, most businesses face moral issues in relation to advertising, because at times they inappropriately promote products for sale, knowing that their advertisements are false. This is mainly done in a manner to misrepresent the product and as a result appears appealing to the consumers but is less likely to be what it is perceived to be. (2010).
