The obvious reason Equality 7-2521 and Adam are similar is because they both sinned. Another reason is that they both realized something after they sinned. After Adam ate the fruit, he realized everything God was keeping from him, whereas Equality 7-2521 realized his destiny. The setting of both stories could have contributed to how vastly each sin and aftermath differed. Adam and Eve were the first two people on the earth. They lived in a garden with animals alone. They didn’t have any other person to base their actions off of, so it seemed pretty natural to believe a serpent. Equality 7-2521 actually did live with other humans. However, everyone in his society was very secretive and kept to themselves, so he wasn’t sure if how he was behaving was normal or not. When he discovered electricity, Equality 7-2521 was more concerned with using it to better his society and the residents living there rather than use it to upset the Council. On the other hand, he knew what he was doing was frowned upon by society, but he chose to do it anyway. Equality 7-2521 wanted to make his discovery known, so he took a major risk by presenting it to the Council. He ended up being exiled from his society and was forced to somehow find a new home. At first it seemed like a horrible punishment, but it turned out to be somewhat of a victory for him.

Anthem by Ayn Rand is a story about a society where there is no freedom or individualism whatsoever. Everyone lives for the sole purpose of serving his “brothers.” In this society, you are not allowed to think for yourself, do anything that you want to do, or even talk about yourself as an individual. The citizens have no say in anything that occurs in their lives. They are merely just pawns without rights. One member, however, had a small glimmer of hope inside him. Equality 7-2521 stood out both physically and mentally from the others. He was very intelligent and inventive which were two assets that would eventually help him
