Summary

This assessment is the Quality Systems aspect of a fully Integrated Management System (IMS) and references to the IMS in this report refer only to the Quality System processes and activities. In order to avoid confusion this document refers to the QMS aspects of the IMS.

TWB2 Opening Meeting

XXXXXXXXXXX (Plant Manager) and XXXXXXXXX (Quality Co-ordinator) attended the opening meeting. The assessment programme was accepted and the time for the closing meeting was agreed. XXXXXXXXX conducted a tour of the plant and production facilities.

There is a Quality Policy that is seen to meet the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 with good address of customer focus, product conformity and continual improvement. The Policy is representative of an integrated system covering Quality. Environment, Health and Safety.

There is also an expanded XXX Group Quality Policy which also satisfies both the XXX objectives and the requirements of ISO 9001:2000. Quality Objectives are established and these are reflected in the Quality Policy.

Management Commitment

The Plant Manager demonstrated strong management commitment to the Quality Management System (QMS), having been very involved in the upgrading of the QMS and communicating the importance of quality throughout the organisation.

Organisational direction is well communicated and there are numerous staff “get together’s” held to communicate the company’s values and objectives throughout the year.

The atmosphere was one of an environment that encourages the involvement of people in the success of the organisation. There is substantial monitoring on the effectiveness and efficiency of the QMS.

System Planning and Responsibilities

Much effort has been invested in the QMS over the past six months with every process subject to scrutiny and revision and this is reflected in the documented quality system. All staff are aware of their responsibilities and, where necessary, authorities. The role of Management Representative is assigned to the plant
