History of Philadelphia

Philadelphia has always been a place of attraction. The place that lands a spot on all historians’ checklists. From where the nations first and second Continental Congress meetings were held, the constitution was written, the place in which the United States was born, where the liberty bell resides. and the place where William Penn settled. This city has history written all over it. Not just national history but entertainment history. Philadelphia is home to the famous Art Museum stairs where Rocky Balboa ran up, the same place where Live 8 took place twice. It is home to the Fresh Prince of Belair. It is the native land of the “Philly Cheese Steak”. It’s the place where the people say “wader” instead of water, the place where there are always jimmies but never sprinkles. Philadelphia has a culture of it’s own that cannot be found anywhere else. It is a place in which no matter how much change it goes through the culture of the city never changes. The people’s enthusiastic spirit and pride for their city always stays the same no matter where they are originally from. Once a person takes pride of Philadelphia, it stays etched on their hearts forever.

Philadelphia is the place where everyone is welcomed. It is the city of brotherly love. Philadelphia is one of the most beloved cities of the United States, or at least it used to be. It used to be one of the most popular cities during the upcoming of the United States, but today it seems to be the most forgotten city. Fortunately the city has three incredible Universities that bring in tourists and new residents yearly. The University of Pennsylvania, Drexel University and Temple University all bring in an exemplarily amount of students in yearly.

New young students in this old city bring life into this historical city. They give the city a touch of vivacity. These young people enter this old city and make it new. They bring a sense of diversity with the tremendous amount of out of state students that come in every year. Without of these students there would not be bars full of people in historically streets of Philadelphia. These students may not realize that the streets they are walking on through their journey to their favorite night clubs were once the city square of Philadelphia when it was first founded in Philadelphia. They do not know the history around Welcome Park as they nonchalantly walk past on their way to Cube Libre or Bleu Martini for a night out. But they are making memories of their own, new memories that might seem non-existent within another 100 years. Times and memories changes year after year until one day that memory one person had 200 years ago no long exists in present time. For example what welcome park is now is not what it was 200 hundred years ago. Back then it was the land of a Slate Roof House, which no longer exists.
